Default Door Lock Actuators

Hello all!

This is my first post here on the forum but I've been lurking for some time now. I own an 2013 F Sport and my driver's side door lock actuator no longer works and hasn't for the last 2 weeks. Now the passenger side door lock is starting to act up.

I've tried searching to see if any other owners have had similar issues or recommendations on how to fix but no luck. My dealer wants $600 to fix the driver's side door (says they couldn't replicate the problem on the passenger side).

I've found a walk through to remove the door panel but I haven't found any info on how to access the actual actuator. Anyone have some instructions?

Another thing...how do you feel about aftermarket actuators? Or should I just stay with OEM?

Thanks in advance!

Outside of warranty I'm guessing, right? By actuator do you mean the little servo that physically locks the door?

Yep...I'm outside of warranty and yes I'm talking about the device that actually locks the door lock.

Can you tell us how many miles on odometer you have on your car?

Also make sure that the child door safty lock is not activated by accident thus preventing you from opening the door from the inside.

The lock looks like this:

In addition to the child lock, some cars have a door lockout option that allows the driver to prevent all doors from opening and windows from rolling down. I am not sure if your car has these features.

I have 61K miles on the car (I drive a lot). The child safety lock wouldn't be applicable since I'm having issues with the front doors instead of the back.

I took it to the dealer for the 60K service and they told me the driver's door actuator was bad. The front passenger door lock started doing the exact same behavior as the driver's lock did just before it stopped working all together.
