Default Custom headliner

Has anyone done anything with the headliner in their GS350?

I have a luxury model and I think it would be really cool to put in a black alcantara headliner. I prefer black headliners in general, but they just aren't available on our cars unless you get F-Sport, which I didn't want.

The problem I see is that all the handles, the sunroof controls (I think), trim pieces, etc. are white/beige. It would look bad against a black headliner. So I don't think there's much that could be done that would have acceptable results for me. Might be able to order the black F-Sport parts from Lexus but that seems like it would get real expensive real fast.

If anyone has done anything with the headliner please chime in and post some pics!

This is a big reason why I went with the black interior, love black headliners.
I havent touched the GS one, but I did a full conversion of an IS but I cant recommend changing only the headliner. It will look out of placec imo, especially in areas where the headliner connect to the pillars.

Also removing a headliner for the IS require at least one if not both (easier removal) front seats to be removed. Pain in the ***!

Good luck and please give us updates

I should have mentioned that, if I did it, I would definitely change the pillars as well. It would look weird if I left the pillars, for the same reasons I would want to change the handles and trim pieces on the ceiling to black.

I think I probably will not end up doing this because of the trim pieces, unless I come across some easy/cheap way to get black trim pieces. I am just curious if anyone has done it so far and what the results were. That is crazy that you had to remove the seats on your IS, sounds like a major PITA.

I'm glad you clarified you wanted to change it to black. Because this is what I pictured from the title...

Hahah, nope, nothing ridiculous like that. Just black. I had the black headliner in my BMW and kind of miss it.

Although, if someone had changed theirs to something like that I would still be interested in knowing how difficult it was, etc.

The pillars and trim are super expensive.
I remember the pillars on IS were 80$ each, and the seatbelts...oh my...100-150$ for each used....there are 6 different ones to buy :/

Maybe put it on wishlist for the next car ?

Yep, it's looking like I'll be waiting for my next car. It's ok, I still love the GS even without the black headliner.

When you say seatbelts, do you mean the seatbelt mechanism/receptacle that is in the pillars? My seatbelts are black already. Or are you just saying that the seatbelts in your IS were not black so you replaced them?
