Default remote start

I called my salesman on Saturday to find out about adding remote start to the key (not the enform app). He transferred me to a technology expert and guess what, according to her all 2015's have a remote starter built in:

Press the lock button twice, than once more and hold it until the hazard lights flash. (has to be done within 3-5 seconds) and it should start.

I believe this to be true. They also give you one year free Enform remote where you can use your phone to start your car, check status, locate, ...etc.

Yes, this is true for 2015's but the engine shuts off as soon as you open the door. I've had 4 cars with remote start and this is the first one that shuts off when I open the door!!! RIDICULOUS!!!

I realize that Toyota Motors has had some safety issues and bad press over the last few years but I find this annoyance to be INCREDIBLY annoying!

Yes! I discovered this as well when using Enform remote start on my car to test it out.

The engine shutting off when you unlock the doors basically makes this a useless feature for me.

I tried it and my car didn't start. I wonder if it is all 15s.

I had to add it to my 2013 GS and it cost 750.

For this reason, it is a useless feature for me too. I was going to have it added to my 2013 until I read many topics about this.

Stupid design imho,

I was able to get the enform remote app registered through the SOS button. After doing that I can remote start using the app but I still can't using the remotes lol. It was a long day maybe, I wasn't getting the sequence right.

There are other posts on this if you search for it. Yes, the 2015 does have remote built into the FOB, though there is nothing in the manual about the remote start. My dealer didn't even know about it.

If you perform the 'lock' 'lock' 'hold lock for 3-5 seconds' pattern (assuming the car is already locked), the car will respond in about 3-5 seconds with a multi flashing of the turn signal lights then the car will start. Once you open the car doors, the engine will shut off so you will have to restart the car.

There is a computer (flash?) update you'll need to get from the dealer due to an issue where the car starter will just 'click' instead of starting the car. This update came out in late January.

I find the remote start extremely helpful during the summer. I can go into a cool car without being blasted by the heat and having the leather scorch the back of my legs.

Unfortunately, I think this remote start is tied with the Enform Remote service. When the free trial runs out, it'll cost $220 a year to have this convenience. Not worth it...

I also wish that it didn't shut off when opening the door.

Very shady if they disabled remote start from the key fob when Enform remote service expires.
