Default Replacing Mark Levinson Sub?

Will replacing the Mark Levinson sub improve my bass at all or will I need to go to an aftermarket enclosed sub? Just bought my GS 350 and would like a little bit more oomph. Also, if I replace it do I need to upgrade any other speakers in your guys opinion?

I'm with you on that, adding a little more boom to our system wouldn't hurt.
When I crank it, the mids start wining so I'm content at 40 range.
I have a 12w3 sealed and a 250/1 I'm fixing on firing up real quick
Got some 8w7's sitting on shelves collecting dust lol

I don't think replacing the factory sub will give you what you want. Go with an aftermarket sub and amp. I'd put a 12 or 15 in the trunk and call it done.

I just replaced mine and did this Might be overkill but I had to insulate the gas cover and the license plate for rattles galore. LOL. But now that I did that there are zero rattles and sounds like a beast. Installed the base **** on that screw near the drivers side knee area.

Just get a box and a sub and put it in the trunk. I have a JL HD1200 amp and a 12W7 in my trunk. It covers all of the lows that the system doesn't.

I have a single JL 12Wv3 in my trunk and had major noise coming from my Fuel door as well. I made a template and cut a piece of Dynamat then applied it to the inside of my fuel door. It might look at little ghetto but I only see it when I'm filling up with Gas. As far as the rattles they are all gone. Works well on the back of the license plate and frame too.

Yes that gas cap rattles something fierce but they got some thick insulation that is sticky on one side and stuck four pieces on all four corners. Then they got some thinner tape and stuck it on the inside if the door where the plastic piece meets the actual metal.

The carpet piece around the sub is actually a face plate that fits snug and can be removed by wiggling it out. Then behind it is just a custom box wrapped with vinyl or some sort of leather material. Its awesome to have quick access to it and looking at it totally looks like the car was built that way. I pulled this setup out of my old Lexus and just reinstalled, so they charged me a few hundred for wiring, reinstallation, and the front facing carpet face plate.

Originally they charged me to build the box, face plate, JL audio amp, and installation for 500-700. I also bought the Morel Elates 3 way for 1200 and the JL 12 W7 sub for 1100 when it first came out. The Elates are collecting dust in my garage now because I can't figure out the best way to install them due to having 18 million speakers in this car with the Mark Lev package. LOL I guess I could sell them but whatever hope this helps.

Default Replaced Sub

Has anyone actually tried to replace the ML sub with something stronger? Not sure I want/need to go the box in the trunk route. Would love to be able to drop in a better 10 inch sub.

Nice setup..specially the custom box.

btw... do you know which wire(s) color do they tap in for the Sub output?

My wife GS current setup is 1x 1200W HIFONICS D-MONO w/ a single 12" Memphis Sub. But i didn't feel the bass is there unless i crank up the volume (30+). My amp do have Bass controller remote in the front and even cracking that up... i feel the bass is not as strong and hard.
I not sure if we got the right wiring and the setup correctly.

Also, did you disconnect the stock Sub and replaced with the aftermarket or its still hooked up? i believe my stock sub still connected. We just tapped the sub output wires.

btw.. how much did you get your custom box for. look great and clean.

So, if you can share some pics of the wiring... that would be cool.

Thanks

Keep in mind, when changing just speakers, the sound is still coming from the same source, with the same amount of power. Changing the speaker might get slightly better sound, but without adding an amp, it will not get much louder.
