Default Subwoofer Question

Is there anyway to install aftermarket subwoofers?
Maybe adding additional amp for just the sub? I've asked couple of stereo shops and they were saying it's a complicated job since there is a amp built in already.
i've been searching and couldn't get clear answers.

Line output converter, amp wiring kit, amp, subs and a box... not much complicated about it.

Yea I had it done in my ES. No more difficult than any other car. I'm contemplating getting it done in my GS but I'm enjoying having a usable trunk again.

What about replacing the existing subwoofer in the deck with a low wattage one, and retaining the factory sub amp???? ( 95' SC300)

You would need an infinite baffle sub. You might find something to fit that little hole but it will still sound like *** on toilet seat. Good thing the door mids hide the sound well.
