Default Auto hold, how?

I just got a 14 GS AWD Luxury and noticed that it did not seem to have "auto hold" function. I read the user's manual briefly yesterday and did not remember seeing it. Then I was reading about features on Lexus website just now and GS does appear to have this feature. If so, how do I engage it? (Not the automatic parking brake that engages when it is shifted into park. Auto hold as in, when you are at a stop light, you can engage auto hold so that car will hold the brake until you press accelerator).

On BMW, there is a button that you press to auto hold. On MB, you just tab your brake padal to engage auto hold.

I had multiple BMWs and MBs but only second Lexus and my first one was more than 10 yrs ago when auto hold did not exist, so I am newbie.

Thanks!

There is a button underneath your steering wheel, close to your right knee.

I don't believe the GS has the automatic hold you are discussing. The button that SNiiP3R is talking about only sets the parking brake when you put the car in park.

The GS has hill hold assist where it will hold the brakes while on a hill for approx. 3 secs. It's activated by pressing the brake pedal down firmly until the TRAC light starts flashing. As far as I know, the GS isn't equipped with the hold feature though. I've heard it was available on the 450h but not too sure.

This is correct, just press down on the brake firmly if the hill assist doesn't work press further on the brake pedal it should beep and a light come up on the gauge cluster. I have a 13 Fsport rwd works for me

I saw the auto hold button on a 450h in the showroom near the gauge cluster, behind the wiper stalk. But I have 350 F-sport and it only has hill hold assist. Lexus should offer it on all of them. After all, it's just a programming and adding a button thing.

Yes my 450h f sport has this hold feature, once you bring the car to a stop it automatically applies the brake, handy if your in a traffic queue stopping and starting, saves having to keep your foot on the brake

Thank you all for replying. Looks like GS350 with luxury package with all bells and whistles, it does not have auto hold functionality...yet. Perhaps 15 model.

I also noticed that it does not have auto high beam feature. This has been offered in other luxury brands for a few years, I took it for granted that a brand new GS model would have it, but I was proven wrong.

Auto hold and Auto high beam are two features I used all the time in my 2010 MB E550, I miss them, along with dynamic seat that holds you (side bolsters squeeze you as you make a turn), massage seat, seat belts that automatically tightens after you buckle up, digital speedometer on gauge cluster, and definitely panoramic sunroof.

But GS has its virtues and I am learning them as I drive more, put only about 160 miles so far.

Does does your GS have all the Bells and Whistles then?

It has luxury package with cold weather package, blind spot, power trunk. Missing heads up and driver assistance package(?, radar cruise, etc). Strangely, I couldn't locate one with heads up and driver's assistance within try state (DC, VA, MD). I would've paid a bit more for those if they were available.
