Default Heated Steering Wheel

I've only had my GS 350 for a month. It's been routinely 75-85 degrees in the A.M. Yesterday it was about 44, not very cold generally, but I'd left my GS in the driveway overnight. So I decided to try the heated steering button. It works! Except for the very top and very bottom of the steering wheel, the heating element worked rapidly. I live in the east now, but this would've been amazingly handy when I lived in Minnesota. Nice feature.

I have the heated wheel too and have never used it. In the winter I tend to use driving gloves. My wife, on the other hand, likes the way it keeps her hands toasty warm.

Thats because the top and bottom are not heated, only the sides at 3 and 6.

The heated portion is only the leather wrapped parts of the wheel, still nice on a frosty morning.

BTW Kia's Canadian commercial for its compact and sub-compact vehicles focus exclusively on heated seats, side view mirror, windshield wipers and the entire steering wheel. The GS in Canada keeps up the economy minded Kia on all accounts but the steering wheel.

I can tell you that I appreciated the heated wipers in a massive blizzard in Montreal last year.

My former 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland had a heated steering wheel, and it also heated the wood portions as well. I thought it was great. Not sure why Lexus won't do it. When I was living in Michigan I loved the heated steering wheel. I think it was an option I questioned before having experienced it. Now I truly can appreciate and understand why people want it. Not a huge problem here in LA though.

But I also wonder why Toyota/Lexus remote start turns off the vehicle and requires a restart, when nearly every other system allows you to get in the car, and as long as you have the key, just press the start switch again (it won't shut down/restart) and go.
