Not gonna get an update with the items you mention...if the 2014 GS comes out with the same enhancements the 2014 IS has, they won't have an update for the 2013s.

 

Really? Why would they not provide a software update. That's disappointing.

One Issue to be honest is the BT with the iPhone. Don't know if others see this but assuming you were playing music off of your phone when getting into the car and turning it on the music plays on the phone for a second before it goes to the BT and car speakers. I know many others cars that seamlessly pick this up rather than this bug.

There are honestly so many bugs and little corky things that make me think this is not prod ready and more of a first round beta release.

 

So just got the email confirming that Siri made it to the 2014 GS. Anyone have any insight on how we can apply this upgrade?

Dealer took about 300 of us on a winery tour and lunch a week ago. One of the staff was talking to me and said map updates have to be purchased and should only done once every 2 years. Not sure why 2 years.

For Canadian owners, Enform is coming to the GWN, as soon as XM internet access gets through the CRTC. I am told, that means that Siri integration will be rolled out after that. So I assume you 2013 GS owners in the US should get access to it as well, but you may have to buy the upgrade.

 

i wouldn't mind paying for the siri update if it is reasonable. (sub $200ish)

No, it won't.

 

If the hardware is the same between the 2013 and 2014 GS, there should be no reason why, via either a software or firmware update, Lexus could not upgrade our 2013's to include at least some of the functionality they are about to include on the 2014's. As stated above, this would be separate from the annual map upgrade release (although, they could combine the two - Pioneer did that a few years ago and combined the annual map updates with a change to a new map vendor and also updated the GUI).

I would not expect them to do this for free (although I am willing to be pleasantly surprised!).

Even if they don't, however; I am satisfied with my current Nav set up. I knew what I was getting going in (left behind 3D mapping in my Infiniti with a Pioneer after-market unit), and have been overall happy with the performance of the Lexus navigation to date.

It's one of the disadvantages of being early adopters of anything (technology, cars, etc.)...There are always going to be tweaks and updates made after we commit.

You can delay purchasing waiting for the next new thing, or you can pull the trigger when what is available meets your current needs or desires, and accept that there will be improvements or changes down the road that you might not get.
