Default Shake at startup.

Hey Guys,

Came from an Acura TL and when I pushed the button to start the car it started solid. No shaking or rumbling. Smooth starts.

On my new GS 350 with Luxury and Cold weather package it starts up with the car doing a quick shake while starting then stops. Car also shakes a bit while shutting off. Is this normal?

Surprised a 60k car would have this type of behavior or shaking engine mount etc... Thoughts?

Doesn't sound normal at all. My car doesn't shake at start up or shut down. I would have the dealer take a look at it.

Thanks. It's a mild shake but as if the engine mounts can't absorb the initial start so it shakes while turning on then it levels. When turning off the car it's that mild rumble / shake again until its completely off. Lasts for seconds.

Guess I may have to take it to them

I live in Canada and the car never shakes on start of shut down at any temperature. In fact, most times the instrument panel illuminating and a faint engine growl is the only way I know the car has started.

I've noticed this as well. I suspect this to due to the firmness of the engine mounts. Firmer engine mounts allow better throttle response as less of the engine's energy is wasted by the engine rotating on its mounts. In the past, I've replaced OEM rubber engine mounts with aftermarket urethane engine mounts on a vehicle. This definitely transmitted more of the engine's vibrations into the passenger compartment.

I have no shaking on start or shutdown. I would have the dealer take a look at it and see if it is normal. I had a BMW that developed that problem over time and it was loose motor mounts causing it. The motor mounts were replaced and the shaking went away.
