Default Why is so much tied to subscriptions?

I'm expecting my new GS to arrive in about two weeks, and just finished reading the manual. Very disappointed in how much is needlessly tied to subscriptions, like Enform.

I can see why you would do that for something where a person is going to talk to you, but why to transfer destinations from your iPhone to the car?

And the safety connect...another monthly fee, and opportunity for somebody to track your car. The way to protect your privacy should be an OFF switch. Why not have a crash sensor or the SOS button turn that transmitter on?

Also, when you read the subscriber agreement, you quickly realize that there isn't much of your activity and data which they can't use for whatever purposes they want - like make money off of it - and they have the gall to charge you hundreds per year for the "privilege". This is NOT an economy car folks! Haven't we paid enough already?

Wake up Lexus - respect the privacy of your customers!!

Corporations love steady revenue streams. The subscription model gives them that.

During the trial period I was able to setup the iPhone app once to play with it late at night in my garage. I don't miss the feature at all and Pandora works great through BT audio with track information.

I've never set up Enform in the 8 months that I've owned my GS and I feel like it offers everything I need from a technology standpoint.

I wonder what kind of renewal rates they're having...I can't imagine there are a lot of people willing to pay a few hundred a year for this stuff. When my GS comes in, I'm not going to sign up for any of this.

I'm glad that the BT iPhone approach works without having to pay more.
