Drove my car at night for the first time tonight and noticed my navigation screen didn't switch to night mode. Is there a setting where I can enable auto night mode or is this just the way it is supposed to work?

Yes turn the dimmer down a little bit. When it is on all the way then it stays bright

 

Mine must be defective. I turned the dash lights all the way down and up and it is still on day mode. Could there be a setting that allows the changeover

 

I figured it out. There is a setting for display for day mode that has to be turned off for it to change between modes

I don't know if is default or someone messed with it that I'm or aware of. I cant see it being the default or more people would be complaining The "day mode on" was on so just turning it off allowed the mode to change from day to night mode.

 

I had to have my head lights on for the day mode icon to show. Then I was able to set it so that it changes at night when the head lights go on.

 

I didn't know the lights have to be on. I did it in the dark last night so my head lights were already on.
