So I've had the car since June 29th and tonight was the first time my navigation went into night-time mode when the headlight turned on. I've always left the headlight on "auto" and I've always thought that the darn white background on the navigation map display was too bright for night-time so I turned the brightness down 2 levels. I was kind of disappointed at first since I thought the car didn't have a night-time mode!

Today while waiting in the car in the afternoon, I was fiddling around playing with the navigation but I didn't change any options at all and all of a sudden when it got dark, the navigation map changed to night mode! I was wondering if there was an option to turn off the night-time mode during day-time? I know that you can change it to day-time mode when it's in night-time mode but I'm just so puzzled that why it never went into night-time mode in the first place!

Well anyways I'm very happy now though!

Interesting.. the one time mine went into Nighttime mode was when I Was messing with the dash as well. I thought I broke it.., lol.

Im going to definetly set it that way at night from now on. Is there a way to have it automatically go into night time mode when it gets dark out?

so how do I know if it's NOT at max??? I have it set at Auto: Normal...

 

the nav dimming is automatic with auto lights, and it will even dim if you go thru a tunnel or if it's dusk out. i think it dims faster than the headlights will come on, like in a tunnel. it also turns bright at sunrise when it senses enough light out, but sometimes that won't be enough to turn the lights off yet. it's a smart feature.
