Night Mode on Navigation
My daughter recently bought a 2004 4-Runner and I noticed that when she drives at night the navigation screen goes to a negative image color. I thought if her Toyota does that my Lexus should do the same thing. I tried all the settings on the screen and not once did I get it to change. Even when I tried the different color settings on the day and night buttons the screen does not seem to change and is still very bright. I thought I would see if the same thing happened on my 2004 SC when the lights were on and I got the same results as my daughter's car. I am now wondering if there might be something wrong with the color settings on the RX. When driving at night it is so bright with the navigation on we almost always have to turn it off. It seems funny that I have had the car over a year and didn't notice it before this.
Turn down the dim switch for the instrument panel to turn navigation into night mode. Note that your headlights must be on.
Yeah, I couldn't figure it out until 3 months after I bought my RX300. It's not in the manual.

Yeah, the 04 4Runner's JBL Navi unit has that setting for a reverse color display mode. I know for a fact the IS300's navi works the same way with the lights on...and a seperate setting for reverse mode. Agreed to what Harrier explained above.

Thanks for the info. I turned down the switch and was able to get the night mode on. I can't believe that I have driven the car for over a year and not known about this; I feel like an idiot. It would be helpful if this was mentioned in the owner's manual. I knew that I would get the answer I needed from CL. All of you are great! Thanks again.
