Last night my blind spot monitor came on and didn't turn off. I had to turn it off manually and turned it back on. I hope this doesn't become a big problem.

Just curious but was there anything in the vicinity of your rear bumper sides when this happened? It maybe a faulty BSM sensor. There shouldn't be any reason to be alarmed since this would apply under your factory warranty. Thank goodness for that!
hate glitches,, especially when your car and it's toys are supposed to be perfect for what it is. I agree with Flipside,,,it's still under factory warranty.
Did it turn on because something was nearby and then failed to turn off? I have yet to see any problems with BSM, I would monitor it and if it does continue, bring it to your dealer and your factory warranty will take care of it if something is wrong with the sensor.
There are couple times mine doesn't detect a car, but everything is fine when I restart
Hearing that makes me worry some, my Infiniti BSMs never failed to light up when a car was there, but on occasion would light up when one was not there such as when a bridge structure was there etc. a false positive fail is much safer than a false negative fail. I just turned in a leased Infiniti for my LS so going to pay full attention if it can fail to alert me when a car is there.

I've had that happen once or twice.
I notice sometimes when turning on to a road with a metal highway guard rail, the light will come on for a couple of seconds.
So far mine has been flawless. My wife and I agree that the GS picks up a hella lot more than any of our other vehicles with BSM so I rely on it a bit more than I should, praying it never fails me. I did however notice a Denali I was driving next to the other night having issues. It was really inconsistent with me next to it and that kinda freaked me out. Hope I never have that issue.
My BSM is ok but one time my front left parking sensor was picking up something at a mall parking lot. I was waiting for an open space and that thing just started beeping on its own and I was nowhere near an object. Maybe it was detecting a ghost passed by?

The parking sensors drive me crazy I had to turn them off. And I hate how when they're on there's a light on the dashboard. Messes with my OCD.
Toyota thinks they need a light on for everything that's on in the car. BSM button has a light on if that's on, parking sensors have a light on the dash if they're on, auto fold mirrors have a light on if they're on. Everything functioning has a light on. It's weird.
My Blind Spot Monitor will stay on if I am driving in the left lane of a highway and there is a wall or tall guardrail there. That's just normal because you certainly wouldn't want to go further left.
The BSM has a lot of parameters as to how it works, e.g. speed of your car, whether you are passing another car, whether another car is passing you, oncoming cars, etc., etc., etc.
