Neat find. I'll have to try it out. The one drawback to driving is that you can't see the outside of the car while you're inside, so you have to look around and see if anyone else is driving one...

I noticed this too. I believe it has to do with whether the headlights are on. The LEDs dim while the headlights are on for some reason. When it shuts off, the LEDs immediately get brighter. This is for both auto or manual modes. I noticed this one day while driving behind a truck (reflection off bed door), and later tested it while parked in front of a business with glass on the front which allows you to see the car in the reflection.

Should be the same as the 2011+ IS LED lights...
When the headlights are on, the LED's dim to 50% power.
When the headlights are off and the LED's are being used as a DRL, they light up to 100% again.
I believe you can wire it so that its 100% all the time, as people have done with the 2011+ IS LED lights.

yeah they dim because if they run at 100% while the main lights are on, it gets blinding. but it should be that hard to bypass the lighting. most likely you will have to take off the bumper.

What I did was just set my headlight sensitivity all the way down, that way my headlights turn on at the latest possible time in the day. But yeah I would like the leds to be at 100% all the time.

At least Lexus didn't do what Audi did. When your turn signal is on it turns off that sides DRL, It just looks weird.

Speaking of weird, does the LEDs turn off with your blinkers like on an Audi? I thought this guys LED was busted till I noticed it only went off when he turned on the blinker for that side of the car. BTW, I'm talking about his LED DRL.

How do you wire the DRL's so that it is 100% bright when the headlights are on?

I've always lusted over Audi's headlights and their car's ability to have both the headlights and LED DRLs shining so bright.

I think Lexus may have done this to save battery power, since people have complained about battery problems in the earlier 2013-2014 models where the car wouldn't start after being in the garage for a week or so.

When I had an Audi A4 with LED DRLs, they did dim a bit when the headlights were on.

It's still really bright compared to the Lexuses though right?

Not really...I would say similar brightness as Lexus.

I agree, I always hated seeing that Audi did that, the OCD in me I guess. The first time I saw one off when signal was on I remember thinking "Damn it's gonna cost a lot to fix that broken LED strip" haha.
