Does a base model with no NAV exist?

You'll have to ask a dealer to order one for you that way - but lexus.com does show the option to order the base model with no packages (that would eliminate nav too)

And the user manual does talk about what to expect in display with nav and without nav, so I'm guessing yes, it does exist.

Wow, did you ever buy a 3rd Gen GS?

Special order. Majority of the GS' ordered for all 4 Lexus regions have NAV already packaged with the car.

I can't imagine that area without NAV...egads..I bet if you get a base model with no NAv, the smaller screen comes and initally and says "what the hell were you thinking, trade me in"

lol

Also, don't expect a dealer to be too anxious to place a special order. Most/if not all dealers have to give up 2 allocations to place a custom order.

Wow! Way to be rude.
The OP is asking a simple question and you're basically insulting him.

If the car has no nav, then it will just be like a status display screen. It still controls the car stuff, HVAC, and everything, just the NAV functionality is missing.

I couldnt even think of what it would look like, possibly the look of what the RX350's look like w/o nav I'd guess?

No, you still get a color display and Remote Touch.

The screen is smaller (8"- still larger than the screen on the previous gen GS and same size as the LS) and there are plastic shrouds surrounding it.

It looks something like this:

Albeit without the mapping etc of course. All models in Hong Kong get nav, the upgrade is just the larger screen.
