@sbowden99 : The Lexus LKA system utilizes a camera positioned behind the top portion of the windshield, near or in front of the rearview mirror. Also, radar sensors behind the front grille are said to communicate with this LKA system. This camera is used to recognize visible white or yellow lane markings on the road. The camera judges the position of the vehicle in relation to the road markings and alerts the driver if they are inadvertently straying out of their lane. The alerts may include a sound and/or a vibrating steering wheel and also a visual warning.

Here is the important part of my post - for the camera to work properly the windshield glass must be clean and not damaged by chips or cracks in the glass. If (I do not know for certain) radar sensors in or behind the grille are used in conjunction with the camera, the sensors must not be dirty or damaged in any way. Snow, ice, crusty dried dirt or dried bits of leaves can affect the sensors. Even a spider web can be the cause of a radar sensor not working and throwing a malfunction message or DTC (diagnostic trouble code).

I suggest checking to make sure the upper 24" of your windshield is spotlessly clean and not damaged, and the grille area radar sensors are in good shape and clean as well. It could be that with a little attention to cleaning up the error message might go away...

Interesting idea re: a dirty car, but that's not it. Just had the car detailed and it's spotless at the moment. Still have the error message.

@sbowden99 - Do you still get the error message if you turn the LKA feature off?

I used LKA one time just to see if it worked. Same for Dynamic Radar Cruise Control. I won't use any feature that interferes or takes driving control away from me.

If it was mine and turning LKA off removed the error message - I'd have no problem permanently leaving it turned Off. However, if the error message remained displayed even when LKA is Off I'd have to get it fixed. Truth is, I despise stuff that doesn't work - - so it would drive me crazy knowing it doesn't work!

Problem solved! LKA is for people that don't know how to drive anyway! Then again - maybe you need LKA !

Turns out when my mechanic replaced the GS350 steering wheel with the RX350 F sport steering wheel I found on eBay, he did not swap the electronics package, which appeared for all intents and purposes to be identical. Today I brought my old GS350 steering wheel in and had him replace the RX350 steering vibration ECU with the GS350 ECU.

Problem solved.

Nice! Good to hear there was a resolution.

A tip when posting about issues, though. It would help in diagnosing if any related prior work was also listed. In this case, knowing a steering wheel swap had been done prior, and the error appearing shortly after would have likely steered us (heh) in the right direction.
