I purchased my GS350 back in Dec 2007. As of today I just hit 2,500 miles on my ODO.
I've been driving the car with extra care, not flooring the car, and not going above 3000rpm.
Any of you guys knows what is the break in mileage for the GS350. Am i safe to use the PWR mode? i really wanna feel the true power of the car and not drive like a grandma anymore.

Tommy,
you could've done that like 1500 miles ago. i am at 4500 already and altho i baby my car, i still hit red line once or twice here and there. Remember your ECU adapts to your driving style and proper engine break in involves having engine run at different RPM range.

tommy, if anything 1000 miles is more than enough. i have 6k on the clock and i gun it from time to time
yes, your ecu is probably not as "sensitive" on timing now. no need to reset ecu. believe me, the 3gs is a lot more responsive than the 2gs on this. just gun it several times on the freeway and it will wake up

How do i reset the ecu? I remember on our previous 2GS.. we take out the main ecu in the fuse box for couple of minutes. Should i do the same on the 3GS?

i don't know about the fuse location, but you can always just disconnect battery for 10-15 mins.
but trust me, you don't need it. i usually drive pretty mild, but several times i went mad, the car was there. unlike my gs400 and sc430, they were still crawling

I babied mine for the first 1000 miles then it was those sweet 600 rom shifts. I go over a bridge on the way home. I turn right onto it from a stop light, and I usually push the car to redline first through third gear and I am easily at 85 by the time I reach the top of the bridge. I love the silky smooth power delivery of this car. The G35 I previosly owned gave off more vibration near redline. PUSH IT. Tell that car to earn that large monthly payment. lol
I think the manual says it has a 1000 mi or so break-in (not sure where I put mine to verify,...). So, I was fairly conservative up to that point, but now I'm having fun with it. There is an awesome merge lane off of this county road I take to get on the freeway home, it's really long for a merge ramp and has a couple of curves in it - it's a lot of fun!!

I finally used the ECT POWER mode after 2500mile.. Let me tell you that the power is incredible. Its night and day comparing to my previous 2GS.
You are right about the ect power mode. I remember in the old days, I had a Toyota Supra, the ect power mode on that car really didnt make much of a difference. The ECT power mode on the GS transform the car into a sports sedan. I guess thats 15 years of technology at work
