Default Apple Car Play

Hi all
I am in the process of getting Apple Car Play fitted to my 2018 GS 450h but have a few concerns
I have seen the Carlinkit system here for around £350 and the info on the site doesnt look too bad however I like to have Nav on one side (the largest part) and Range ,Time and MPG on the other, does the carlink allow this as all the photos shows either Full screen Nav or Full screen Icons.
I have looked at the beatsonic but here in UK its around £900 a bit out of my range, maybe because there are'nt too many GS s here I do think I have seen on the forum Peasdos install it on his GS but i could'nt get a definitive conclusion from the display I do on occasions Have full map on screen and use the small dial in Dash but prefer the main screen.
I do also have the Quick Dial window up as well so i dont want to lose the ability to have no display on the Main screen.
I would be obliged if you could enlighten me on this topic

Regards
Robert

I prefer to have the climate controls on the right side. Audio or Maps on the left side.

On my second screen, I'll have the lastest youtube music videos running on the right side. Google Maps on the left side.

So that means then that i can have OEM stuff on the small side and the carplay Gizmo on the other(the larger) part of screen Maps and Iphone Icons which is what i want.
What system have you installed .
I will have to have mine installed as i dont think i am Competant to undertake the Task.

Hey -how did this go for you?
I am looking at fitting the same kind of system - and would be keen on your feedback as to wheather it is worth doing.
I will be doing it on my 2013 GS450h F-Sport.

Cheers!

Hi Zanew
I havent yet had it fitted i cannot get an answer to address my concerns.
I have an Installer trying to find out about this, the only solution he as found is for the pre 16 Lexus that uses split screen and cannot go to full screen I feel that should be perfect for you.
In Truth I have virtually given up on it in the installer never came back to me.

With Carlinkit you can hold down a button to switch between Carplay/Android Auto and OEM Lexus Nav/infotainment. Yes pre 2016 Nav/head unit are the only ones that can do split screen, everything else is full screen. Honestly with Carplay/AA the factory screen is useless and if you need to you can hold a button to switch over and do whatever you want on the stock head unit.

great - good to know. I was thinking i wanted the wide screen initially, but understand the restriction due to the pre 2015 model.
Now that I think about it, it will be handy to have the small factory area alongside the apple car play screen
