Default How to replace 450h calipers? (Rear)

I've tried searching for caliper replacing/bleeding for this car but I just can't seem to find a solid answer. Lots of conflicting/incomplete answers out there.

I'm replacing both rear calipers/rotors/pads. I plan on taking it to the dealership after I replace the parts for a full flush/bleed because I don't have techstream, and I want to make sure there's no air trapped in the pump etc.

I've read conflicting stuff about replacing these. Some people say to disconnect the battery so the pump doesn't run. Some say it's fine but just don't open the driver door, and just vacuum the lines.

Can anyone point me in the right direction here? This is turning into a freakin nightmare of an annoyance. Thanks.

Should be the same as the Prius. (this video is how to do it without techstream - it IS possible)

Good luck!

Thanks for that video! That's a different technique I haven't seen yet.

So theoretically I can just clamp off the brake line, replace calipers like normal, unclamp the line, put it into invalid mode, and then bleed them like in the video? Or am I missing something?

My man.. you didn’t search well. I literally posted a how to ( I specifically did the rear myself ) bleeding procedure without having Techstream on my gs460 (same electric brakes).

https://www.clublexus.com/forums/gs-...echstream.html

Worked 100% perfect for me.

In addition to above: No need to clamp the brake line (just do not open any doors). just disconnect the brake line, change everything. Once all new pads, rotors, calipers and brake line connected, then follow the procedure I stated above. I didn’t do what that Prius guy did. I did what the LS guys do and it worked with no issues to today.

Titangts-
thanks for the link, dude. Somehow your post didn't come up while searching. Probably because I used terms like gs450h (yours just has 450h) and 3gs etc. Your post is correct in the sense that this info is for some reason really difficult to find, considering how common of a problem it is.

Just to reiterate: once the calipers etc are installed, there won't be any issues with opening the door in order to depress the pedal, right?

yes, once ALL components are on, then you’ll start the bleeding process which means someone needs to be in the drivers seat (opening via the drivers door). You’ll hear the pump cut on but that’s fine.
