Ok, so I just got my rear calipers and rotors changed. Both rear calipers were seized (sliding pins were really in there, one on each side). I figure the rotors are junk and so will toss them. Is there anyplace that I can do a core exchange with these calipers? Maybe get refurbed ones for these? or should I just junk these also?
there is no need to replace the caliper if just the sliding pin is seized. remove the sliding pin and lube the heck out of it. if the pistons in the calipers were seized, then replace with reman or get the rebuild kit from the dealership for $30.
sounds like you've already replaced the calipers, just keep the old ones as spares. use a c-clamp to see if the piston can be pushed back. push them in to drain as much of the old fluid out as possible. if they've been removed off the car, now is also a good time to make sure the bleeder valves can be loosened. bag em and set them aside for a rainy day.
