Well 10k transmission swap is from Lexus dealership and assuming it would be a new transmission. It would essentially mechanically total this car. When we caught the problem, it only jerked slowing down to complete stop. My father said if he kept coasting instead of complete stop he could get away with it completely. Didn’t mention and gear hang accelerating.

in glad you got the ecu fixed. Did you ask them which part was broken? Since you are EE and all. Maybe you can probe them a bit more since it’s lifetime warranty and you still have issues with accelerating out of 1st gear. Might be a good idea to flush the trans fluid once more in case the rough shifting caused debris to contaminate.

might be a good idea to keep it in snow mode until you change fluids to try.

good luck!

I didn’t ask as I was at work when they called me. I planned to open the unit up when I got it but they put a warranty sticker over the opening so you can’t disassemble it without voiding. Normally I wouldn’t mind but I figure these guys and pros and have been doing this so long that any issues I have left are highly unlikely to be the ECU so I left it as is.

yeah snow mode is on all the time and I’m starting to feel maybe second is also holding slightly longer than it should but I’m not sure right now. Either way, I’m hoping to be able to properly check the solenoids if I can get access to Techstream software. Once I test the solenoids, I’ll do another flush, drive for a bit, and check for any improvement.

Does anyone who has used techstream before know if it can run transmission tests?

Latest update: Doing the flush and adding the additive is not a good idea. Do either one or the other. They both do the same thing which is change the lubricity of the fluid to that of new fluid. I did both and my transmission had been slipping since. Not a crazy amount of slip, but just enough to know something felt off. I finally did another oil change and instantly felt the difference.

to fix the shudder, do a fluid change/flush OR the additive. Not both.

It'll hiccup VERY subtly once in a while but for all intensive purposes, it's gone.

I still plan on doing this a 4th time along with a transmission filter change but for the time being, I'm very happy
Op. Did you ever perform the fourth change? Did the shudder completely disappear ?

I actually didn't yet, I've been dragging my feet with this pretty badly but the good news is that the transmission still feels really good with several thousand miles on the 3rd change. I'll post an update after the 4th change and trans filter replacement but I'm not sure when I'll get around to that.

A small update on my car, I ended up paying to refurbish/rebuild the whole transmission. There was a lot of water and rust inside my transmission, so they pretty much change every part of the transmission except the housing!

It was a costly job, but the car drives completely differently and much better to drive!

Well worth the cost (for me)

that great to hear! If you don’t mind me asking, how much was the job?

also, it turns out that my issue of the gears being held too long wasn’t a transmission issue, but a wheel bearing issue. It took me a while but I finally diagnosed one of the rear wheel bearing being faulty and got them both replaced. My mechanic broke both abs sensors in the process (you’re supposed to remove the abs sensor before putting in the new wheel hub), but when I drove the car (no speedo, no abs, no power steering b/c of the broken sensors), the car was shifting through gears no problem. It felt like a completely different car.

Anyway, the bearing being bad gave the sensors bad speed readings, meaning the computer’s timing was being thrown off. That plus the braking effect from the misaligned bearing meant inconsistent performance.

it’s all fixed now though. Got oem sensors and had them replaced at a Lexus dealer, and also got the F Sport away bars installed while it was there.

It’s a completely different car now. Almost 0 body roll and acceleration is very nice.

I thought I was losing my mind but it feels good to know I wasn’t.

VINDICATION.

To get the transmission completely refurbished was £2960. A lot of money, but it's been worth it!

I keep considering the sway bars as everyone who has added them has said it's transformed the car.
