Default Need Help with GS300 2007

Hi Guys

so I want on a trip to a hill station after getting my major servicing ( all oil and fliter changed ) done just a week before. I drove for around 700 miles in 3 days. On my way back home I stop at one of the hill station for some pictures and as I lowered down my mirror i felt some rubber buring smell. I thought it would be coming from tyres as it was 30 degrees and car was running for some time on hills. I decided to take a way down and as I receahed down to the main highway I started hearing whistling sound I stoped my car to check if anything is wrong but nothing appearant. I then decided to drive slowly to reach a nearby service station but that sound went in like 10-15 minutes of driving. I drove around 150 miles but no noise or smell. I just checked my engine oil level today and felt that its slightly less then the level required I have just topped that up but slight worried whether to drive the vehicle or not. Any idea what that could be?

What type of service did you do? What vehicle is this? Its hard to pin point from your description, maybe give us more details. Is it an engine noise, suspension, etc. Did you try running the engine with the hood open to see where it is coming from.

Its GS 300 2007 model. i am not sure where the sound coming from also it was not from acceleration but as vehicle was moving there was whistling. I just google at that time and I found some threads where people mentioned that whistling could be from hose due to change in temperature. This kind of whisle noise comes to normalise hose temperature. that whistling went within 10 -15 minutes of driving.

Did you check the coolant levels by removing the engine cover, and opening the coolant cap? Have you ever had the water pump replaced, aswell as the serpentine and idler pulley?

Its possible you may have a leaking water pump or leaking radiator. That whistle could be from steam

As I mentioned that I got the servicing done week back so coolent level is apearing full though I have not open the cap. For other things I am not sure what they are. I have booked inspection tomorrow but all what you are saying would that be identified if I get the diagnosis ( computer inspection) run on my vehicle?

With the engine cold, pop the hood, theres a cover over the engine if you lift up it will just pop off. In the front of the engine near the radiator hose you will see a coolant cap. Slightly press down, and twist off in a counter clock wise. This will open your coolant fill and you can see if it is full to the brim or not. If its just slightly low, you can add distilled water. If theres a lot missing then you will need to purchased toyota premixed coolant. If the level is very low, then you may have a coolant leak somewhere

My coolent tank is transparent and colour of coolent is red so I can see its full.

Do you think its because of coolent or due to temperature?
