EPS steering rack replacement

EPS steering rack replacement
Good Morning,
I own a 2008 GS350 AWD with 140K miles. I never had any issues out of my car until last month (4/20). I went to start my car and the steering got really tight. I took my GS to the dealership and I was told that my steering rack is failing and needed to be replaced. I then asked if it was the EPS module the service advisor said no, its just the steering rack. The dealership wants $2600 to replace the steering rack. So my question is if I replace the rack myself, does the steering rack need to be programmed to EPS module or is it plug and go??
