Default brake system part

I had to replace a right rear wheel hub on my 2010 GS350 AWD & noticed a stripped thread on the carrier that holds the caliper. I've searched the web but have never seen this part on any diagram of parts. The bottom has the "bolt" that the caliper slides onto but actually has a "normal" bolt on the top to hold the caliper on. I'm not thrilled with contacting the dealer for this cast part so if anyone can give me a part number or what it's specifically called, I'd certainly appreciate it.

It's the caliper bracket for lack of a better name and it's not sold separate. You have to buy the whole caliper if you want that piece. Best bet is to just buy one from the junk yard for cheap or run a tap on the threads.

Yea, I was thinking of running a tap & maybe a heli coil but if I could find one otherwise, I'd buy one if not too expensive. That's weird - you can buy almost any other part associated with the brake system but not this part. I cant believe the bolt threads are ok & that the cast piece stripped - it must be pretty soft.
thanks for the input/info!

There is only one part shown in those pics. It's the top hole that is stripped.

Yeah, I suppose. I'd tap it first. Chances are, anything at the junk yard will be "junk". The design of the rear brakes is actually pretty bad. I believe the reason you cannot buy that piece separately is because it's supposed to be a "one piece" caliper. The bottom pin was completely seized on mine. Which reminds me, I still need to send the cores back to Rockauto.

Oh & the corrosion on the lower pin looks pretty bad too. I would try to clean that up or replace them. If you plan to keep your car, it may be worth wile to replace the caliper altogether with a re-manufactured one.

Yea, I polished that slider pin after I took the photo & re-greased it. I thought I'd replaced the rear calipers a couple of years ago when I installed drilled/slotted rotors but that may have been on one of my other cars (calipers). Are you saying all aftermarket rear calipers are one piece instead of 2 like on the front? I had flushed & bled the system at that time.
thanks

I think Lexus treats it as a one piece, even though it can come off, and hence why you cannot purchase that piece separately. Bear in mind, in my research, other people have sanded the slider pin and regreased but it still seized up shortly thereafter, so best to keep an eye on it. Oh and that slider pin can be replaced.

No need to replace the caliper if it hasn't seized on you yet. There is a pretty good how to in the forum using a torch to break it loose if it ever seizes up. Just check the slide pin when you rotate the tires. It's extra work but well worth it. I just checked mine and they are working properly. I did change my left rear about a year ago when it seized up before I found out how to heat it up and get it loose.
