So hurricane Harvey hit us hard here in Houston. Fortunately our house and cars did not sustain much damage but once the waters receded in the driveway I started the car and I no longer have power steering. Water was up to the rack so I pulled the 3 connectors down there and sprayed electrical cleaner in both ends and let them dry for an hour. After plugging them in and starting the car the P/S light is still on. I went to pull the fuse and check that to see if it popped but the location the manual says it is supposed to be there is no fuse there. Can anyone tell me where the EPS fuse is or wtf I am supposed to do if the empty spot in the panel is it? Any other ideas I can do to try and figure it out on my own? If not I am going to have to call the insurance company and make a claim.
No fuses to be seen in the top row of fuse ports...
Check fuse 9 inside the vehicle. Driver side. It's also the EPS system. It also controls the moonroof, vsc system, steering sensor, cruise control and rain sensing wipers. 10amp fuse.
That's odd that 2 rows of high amp fuses are missing. It may not be in use. Probably for the 450h. I'll have to check my fuse box in the morning.
The moon roof still works so it's not that fuse. Did you happen to get a chance to check your engine bay fuse panel? I'll probably just call the insurance company later today if I can't figure this out since I am sure they are slammed and I'm probably going to have to wait a while before anything can get resolved. Just odd to me that some standing water up to the rack would have disabled it, the rack was not even fully submerged from what I can tell by the debris line under the car.
It was up to just the very bottom of the rear door seal and got in enough to soak the carpet but not enough to get on top of the weather tech floor mats. And the car sits at a slant in the driveway so it was even at a lower level up there. This pic was after the water had receded the day after it was up enough to get in the house and that little bit in the car.
Don't know if this will work, but hopefully here is the electrical diagram.
Thanks for that. I can see it showing the 10a fuse and the 80a but I am unable to locate that 80a one and that's the one I want to check. The 10a one that MX73 mentioned seems to be ok.
The 80A probably won't look like a normal fuse, but will probably be solid metal. My info does not give me the fuse location, but if you purchase time on the Toyota TIS website (https://techinfo.toyota.com)you can click on the fuse on the electrical diagram and it will take you to it.

Mine is the same way. I would still check fuse 9 to see if it's a complete connection and not a tiny hairline crack that may cause intermitted power loss to some systems. There may be another moonroof fuse for redundancy.
any updates on this. I am experiencing the same problem. im considering replacing the rack and pinion. from the research I have done, there is supposed to be a censor located in the rack that goes bad. I also checked the power steering module located beneath the battery but that seemed to be ok.
