Default Dreaded P0420 code been tracking when I get code. Ideas?

I've read a on of posts on this error code. I wanted to see if anybody else has experienced what I am. I have a scanner and reset it several times and have noticed a pattern. Every time the code shows up it is after I fill my gas tank, it doesn't matter on how many miles I drive, or how I drive, etc it always shows up shortly after the first 1/4 tank is gone and it is in the middle of the next 1/4 tank is when the code shows up. Does not matter if it's 25 miles or 50 or 75. Everytime I get to that spot the lights go off. I have changed the gas cap already thinking maybe that was it. But no luck....

any my ideas or anybody else have the same experience? Or been able to correct it? Lexus told me it's the cat on bank one and it's costly. Trying to resolve it myslef

If you have the TIS adapter and software you can set it to capture the data when the event occurs (although I have not done this).

Downward O2 sensor check if its working properly, how is your fuel consumption?

Your catalytic converter might be almost over or clogged, sometimes giving it a good cleaning ( pure lacquer cleaner or seafoam) works to remove the code and extend the life, dismounting it and cleaning it througly or at worst case, replacing it.
