Default RE: Seat Cushion Repair/Replace

Hello all,
Needed to either replace or reupholster my 2008 GS Front Drivers Seat Cushion (ripped). I've nearly given up my search for the last 6 mo. for a cushion replacement used or new.
I'm located in the Northwest suburbs of Chicago, Ill.. Would anyone know of a good upholsterer within my area or if the Leather Heated/Cooled seat material is available locally or nationally?

Thanks..

Mylexusparts.com for OEM replacement but expensive if available. Also check this company, LeatherSeats.com , they are located in Oklahoma City. First quaily work, watch some of there video's especially the guy wrapping the steering wheel. They did some seats for me on a Nissan Z-car not OEM but did a great job. They have patterns for OEM seats and can most likely match the leather.

I know mylparts sells new seats but very expensive for the whole thing, think you may be able to order just sections new though. Also eBay has used seats for our cars, I came up with tons of them on there in good condition

I got just the foam lower cushion from them. There is a listing for the upper and lower covers separately also.

What did you pay for the lower foam cushion?

Was just less than $200 about 10 months ago. Old one was a little soft. Guess previous owner was a bit heavy. I removed lower cushion and cover myself however I did have a local upholstery person reattach cover to the cushion, hog ring clips, just due to there experience, for twenty bucks. My old cushion wasn't that bad, no rot or foam deterioration, just a little crush due to age. There is a stickie on here for this and some suggest steam to rejuvenate the foam. I just opted for replacement, still have the old one kept in plastic I could pass along reasonably.

There are some wrecking yard websites that will locate a used part for you. You might try a Google search on that.

I guess my seat color LA00 is difficult to come by at least what I'm noticing. I found a respectible sellers on ebay with the seat and color I'm looking for but the material seems a bit worn and I'm wondering how uch longer it would last. There is also an ebay seller that is selling OEM seat covers for around 850.00 as opposed to 1200.00 myparts.com. I may just bite the bullet and go new unless I can find a cover or seat that I know would last. Has anyone had experince with the company "Fibrenew"? I understand they can dye leather any color with a lifetimve warranty..

Is the leather ripped or the cushion also? If you haven't visited your local upholstery shops already, I suggest you do that. They can fix the ripped leather for much less. Even if you buy oem covers for $850, you would need a professional to install them.
Check with Lexus dealer also because they sometimes recommend local shops. Yelp is another good place to find upholstery places

Yes.. The leather is heated/cooled and torn in places, looks like crap.. The interior is immaculate otherwise.
It seems this material is harder to come by, but my next move is local Upoholstery shop(s) and it looks like quite the job getting the seat apart and re-assembled.
