Default Deck Cleaner + Leather Seats = Bad

As the title implies a bottle of deck cleaner concentrate spilled on my rear seat. Even though I spent over an hour trying to clean it up and dilute the concentrate when I came out the next morning it had eaten away some of the stitching on the seat bench. It did not bleach the leather like I thought it would, it only ate some of the stitching away so now I can look into the seat. I would post pics but I cannot even stand to look at needless to say take pictures of it and upload them on to my computer and have to look at it some more. Anybody have any suggestions of a good place to find a replacement oem seat cover or an entire replacement for the seat bench. I cannot even imagine what a replacement from my dealership would cost. My seats by the way are the black perforated leather... only now with a huge hole in them!

Eric

Yikes! Maybe you could find an upholstery shop to do something with the damaged area?

haha i hope nobody out there is using "composite deck cleaner" to clean there leather seats! this was like the stuff you clean outdoor decks with, the bottle it came in leaked on the seat after i bought it from Lowes. now that it has dried the perforated leather is hard and gross from the cleaner as well.

Not sure as to what comprises a whole assembly but worst case scenario it is around $900 at Carson, see here. Hopefully you won't need the whole thing. I suggest you give them a call.

Maybe you can nab one out of a wreck. Second, there are leather repair guys who could come out and take a crack at fixing it, probably for $50-100. They took care of a tear in my leather office chair pretty well. Third, you should have a $0 comprehensive deductible and the insurer might cover it (never tried to claim anything like that myself, though -- I'd have to read my contract). Let us know how it turns out, and add "-- Repaired!" or something like that to the thread title when you do.
