I'll throw my experience in too. I have an 07 awd and got the shudder around 90K. I tried the Dr Tranny stuff and it worked for about 3K miles. Last week I had the dealer drain and fill for about $220. The shudder is still there. I've put about 300 miles on since the drain/fill, plenty of time to slosh the new stuff around. Are you guys recommending a second and or third drain/fill?

I have a wierd shudder at around 30 on my awd 4gs. Anyone still running into this issue? It doesn't happen to me all the time, it depends on how I accelerate. I have a very light accelerator pedal because I use a Apexi accel so its very sensitive, so at lower speeds I'm very light on the pedal.

All have been well ever since...all a matter of the trans fluid getting depleted. I changed my trans fluid a year later and will be doing it annually going forward. You will need to change it twice within a day or two to cure the problem.

Simple drain and tricky fill that you can do yourself or Indy mechanic. The fill process requires a long enough piece of 5/8 plastic tubing (from Home Depot) that you will need to fish down from the back right hand side of the engine bay and into the side of the tranny...need about 4 qts of Toyota trans fluid IIRC. Similar process to changing gear oil in a manual trans...straight forward. Do it 2 or 3 time for good measure to get rid of most of the old fluid. Good luck!

I notice it happens driving between 20-30 mph and accelerating very slowly. Rpm around 1500. The tranny changes gears up to to 3rd or 4th gear and the vibration starts. If i accelerate, it goes away. During quick acceleration I never notice this vibration. Also if I drive the car in manual and go thru the gears i never notice the stutter. The problem feels like driving a manual car in a higher gear at a low speed and need to down shift.
Did some research and can't seem to find the exact problem or fix if there is one.

From reading all these threads, I can say this. They may have a great transmission, but it is undercooled and the lifetime fluid is a bad idea. I'm surprised there is no Transmission cooler in the radiator!
The Tundra has the exact same transmission, but they have an amazing cooling system. Looks like if that cooling part is adapted, you can add a Hayden 679 cooler.
I am going to drive with a scan tool and see how hot the fluid gets.

I havent read all 3 pages but, I had a shift issue on 01 IS300 at 96,000 miles. It turns out I had a failing MAF sensor. Strangely enough, the MAF controls the transmission shifts. Bought a new MAF and it drove like new again. If I recall, I tested it by disconnecting the MAF and checked to see if the symptom changed. Mine did not. A weak battery can also do this as the transmission has electronic actuators and requires more power than the alternator can supply at lower rpms. Cars are more difficult to diagnose as they become more electric than mechanical. Hope this helps
