Default Anyone know which ECU is the "skid control ecu"?

Trying to replace a bad ECU that lexus says is the skid control ecu that controls a lot of the "braking systems" like ABS, vsc, etc.
A part number would be ideal. I was under the impression the ecu was under the steering wheel where they plug in the code reader, but the description of the ECU I found is part number 757698 or interchange part number 590-51014 it says
LEXUS GS450H 07 Elec Cont Unit (ECU); engine control, (behind LH headlamp assembly)

So not sure if this is the right ECU or not...

Thanks for any help.

This is on an 07 450h - would also like to know if any 3rd gen ecu would work (off a different gs model) or how specific it needs to be.

Have a look at http://lexus.sewellparts.com/oem-cat...450h-2007.html
It looks like the computer (part number 89540 on the graphic) is located under the hood on the driver's side. The Lexus official part number is 89540-30780

I believe it may be located underneath the ABS module.

Why is it every part for these cars seems to cost two thousand dollars... unluckily it looks like this thing costs even twice as much as the main engine ECU?!

If you have an automotive electronics repair specialist in your city maybe you can try taking it there for them to see if they can open it up and repair whatever is wrong with the circuit. There is one here called start auto electric:

http://www.startauto.com/

Hopefully I never see any of this on my car, I can't stomach any more stuff like this that you never expect to fail even on a Ford Fiesta.

Ah ok..So this must be something different
http://www.ebay.com/itm/ECM-ECU-ENGINE-COMPUTER-07-LEXUS-GS450H-757698-/390878325026?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&fits=Year%3A2007%7CMake%3ALexus&hash=item5b0229e922&vxp=mtr
Do you happen to know if the right part (755895, or 89540-30780) will work from certain years? I found the right part but this one says 08 only? (http://www.ebay.com/itm/08-LEXUS-GS450H-CHASSIS-ECM-ABS-ENGINE-COMPARTMENT-THRU-4-08-755895-/400691944006?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item5d4b19da46&vxp=mtr)

Thanks so much for your help, cant wait to get this fixed but $2500 (dealer cost) is crazy!

If you set up an account on Sewell Parts and link it to your ClubLexus username, the discounted price from them is $1524.87. For the eBay seller, you might need to contact him and provide him with the numbers you have to see if they match anything he sees. Since it comes off an '08, it might be different, because the Sewell part number for the '08 is either 8954030670 or 8954030A90, not sure which since it shows both. Neither of those match the numbers for your '07 though.

Well I got the correct part (saved myself $2100) and installed it in about 15 minutes...ABS/VSC/etc lights are all still on... I also started hearing a "horn" like noise when pushing on the brake. Even in park, if I push down on the break I get little toots/honk noises.
Thoughts?

Well, did you reset the codes ... and they came right back? If so, you threw money at the wrong part (so much for saving money ...) or they are a different type of DTC that standard OBD/battery wipe cannot reset and you still need to visit our dealer overlords.

As for the horn/hoking when pressing the brake, well, that's just bizarre. I think you're in for a trip for another diagnostic charge either way, let us know.

I didnt reset the codes, do I need a mechanic to do that or can I just disconnect battery?

You really should have disconnected the battery before messing with anything delicate like that in the electrical system... but sure, you can leave the battery disconnected for 10 minutes and that will do it for most DTCs. Or you can use any OBD2 scanner to clear most codes.

Having a way to scan OBD2 on hand should be the first thing you do before attempting any kind of repair that involves the check engine light. My preference is a bluetooth adapter connected to Torque on my phoe.

Disconnected battery for 10 min and lights were on dash right away. Now some other strange stuff happening - radio would turn on, but no audio... Turned volume **** and nothing happened at all..Then randomly the radio turned on and speakers were working.
Next odd thing was drivers side window buttons werent working for any window by drivers - passenger button worked, but not the "auto up/auto down" features, so had to hold it in for it to work..
Sporatic, strange things... Next avail appt is Monday so we'll see what they say this time..

Good Day to You All, I have A 2008 Lexus IS250. Man O Man ... 2 issues, First one is the brake lights will not turn off and its not the brake light switch ( even tho the old one was bad )I replaced it but still not working. Got codes c1241 and c1380 . Both of those at the Skid Control ECU that's why I am in this forum.

2nd issue that does don't happen often but has more than once is that , My car engine will not turn off when pressing the on/off button . The stereo turns off & I can't shift gears but the engine stays running.

Did a little research and was hinted that it could be the third party alarm my vehicle has , So I removed it but am still having the issues.

I remove the DC CUT fuse to turn the brake lights off..

Thanks In Advance.
