I have never been a fan of extended warranties. If you have the money to pay for an extended warranty, then do yourself a favor and put it into a money market account and let it work for you (interest). I would add to the account over time to grow your savings in the off chance something major goes wrong, but again, at least the money will be making you more money and if nothing ever goes wrong with the car, you just got yourself a nice down payment toward a new model... Anyway, that's my two cents!!

I know some will argue that these new cars and all their electronic gadgets is a good reason to get an extended warranty, and I can see their point, but my only worry is that the fine print always screws people in the end and what you thought was covered really isn't and now you have to pay for something because it wasn't covered...

If you do decide to get an extended warranty, make sure it covers everything - if it doesn't, then refer to my first paragraph.

Extended warranty is always useful. How much is it?

Not a must, but a good insurance policy if you can afford it. I used mine with my 01GS430 and have one with my 09 GS460. Just make sure to get it through your Lexus dealer and always get 20-25% off the asking price.

I'd get it, the engine's bulletproof, but the quirks and kinks of the GS' electronics are all universal.

EDIT: Forgot to say, DEALER ONLY.... Outside of dealer, if you have to make a deductible, forget about it IMO.

Yeah, thanks to my extended warranty ( which cost me $600 ), I saved on the cost of a faulty ABS module costing over a thousand bucks!

eh some people will argue against it and some will argue for it. for me its just a peace of mind type of thing and mine paid itself off after my rack and pinion went after i had the recall done. see if you can work it into the deal but make sure its a lexus extended warranty and not a 3rd party warranty. if its a 3rd party make sure you read all the fine print for whats included and whats not. also 3rd party warranties some times carry a deductible so make sure you keep an eye out for that

It's a gamble either way. I've never purchased one and have also never had to use one. Others have purchased and it ended up saving them money.
