Default Stereo System/Subwoofer Setup POST EM UP =)

I didn't know if there was a thread for this but I thought id start it up. Since I have a sub setup ready to go and didn't know how people set them up as far as mounting in their trunk, box, amp location, etc.

This thread is mainly just to see the numerous setups the 3GS owners have. DOESN'T HAVE TO BE FLASHY THIS IS JUST FOR REFERANCE FOR THOSE WHO JUST WANT TO SET UP A SUBWOOFER AND AMP.

Along with your picture Please indicate:

Subwoofer Brand/Model
Amp Brand/Model
Ported/Sealed (if you can put dimensions of the box AWESOME! )
Converter you used Brand/Model
Brief Review/Description

ill start but I haven't installed yet.

Memphis 10
Jensen 900watt
homemade ported
raptor MID 2 line convertor (R4LOC-2)

I had this setup in my old civic only spent 150 not including the convertor. I just wanted a cheapo setup that can provide me the bass... and it did amazingly well. unfortunately my box is too big to fit from L to R in the GS Trunk so I have to cut it down. I have tested it though.

Had mine installed a while back but got it properly done today plus changed the amplifier (thanks goes to Gokou for his help with everything ?dc4d)

Previously:
Orion HCCA 10.4
Hifonics Brutus BRE2000.1
Audiocontrol LC2i
Sealed
Orions spec'd box
Was really good can't fault it in anyway changed only wanted that extra bit of tweeking capability, before it was just open the trunk and could see just a normal box with the amp stuck on the back but now its the way I like it to be.

Installed today:
Orion HCCA 10.4
JL Audio 1200/1v3
Audiocontrol LC2i
Sealed
Orions spec'd box
Really really good but still needs abit of tweeking with the settings

Really happy with the setup now

I'm glad you got rid of that POS hifonics LMAO....

The JL amp is a pretty decent amp, just not worth the price justification IMO .

I don't have photos (I have really really old ghetto photos). But...

-MB Quart Discus 6.5's all around
-JL G6600
-CT Sounds at1400.1
-2x Sundown SD-2 12s @ .5 ohms.

Pretty much running a true 2kw setup on subs only, and 600w mids and highs.

Subwoofer: Stock Levinson
Amp: Kicker ZX450.2 (rated 450W mono)
Converter: Direct input to amp
Goal was to eliminate the plump bass EQ. It works great. Details in "Kicker ZX450.2" link in sig

Lol it is...

:-)

Have the gain on the amp a quarter way up and it thumps.

The Audiocontrol LC2i is amazing, have my accubass set at volume 42 so after 42 the subwoofer pounds harder.

Really happy with the setup, I also find the factory ML speakers to be good and of my liking, might get the trunk/boot dynamat'd but its not as bad as I thought it might be.

Also was exchanging thoughts about a HO alternator from Michael Singer but dont think I need it as after the JL 1200/1v3 went in I havent seen my voltage drop below 13v, when I had the Hifonics it would sometimes hit as low as 12.5v probably lower. The bass drop's are alot more cleaner and controlled with the JL compared with the Hifonics.

The guy's who installed everything told me the JL is alot more clean and powerful compared to the Hifonics and that the Hifonics was a power hog for no apparent reason.

All thumbs up goes to Gokou for his help.

Will need his help further for when I need to export a nice lip kit from USA to UK for my 3GS.

All in good time but slowly getting there.

I bet those skar vvx's are asking for more power huh? LOL

Most of these type of subs are underrated for what they claim.

People rag on skar because they say skar bites off of sundown's designs.

Jacob designs sundown for sure lol... Very nice guy, and he owns a plentiful nice bunch of staff with'em lol.

IMO, at the end of the day, as long as both brands are well built, idc for the politics
