Default DRL w/ LED flickering issue

I tried searching the forums here but only seen flickering problems on the smaller 194 bulbs... I just installed last night L.E.D. bulbs in my DRL.

I notice a fast pulsating / flickering problem, but when I turn my brights on , it stops doing it. Am I supposed to get some kind of harness / wiring to eliminate this ? I asked the guy that sold them to me and he said no. Anyone seen or fixed this issue before ?

The bulb I am using is a CREE 20W LED Bulb 12V

Since they are 12V bulbs, they are flickering when in DRL mode because they are not being provided with 12 volts. DRL uses a lower voltage which results in a lesser light intensity during the day. They are working when you use your brights because then the bulbs are being supplied with 12V. You need to get a relay harness for them to work during DRL mode.

I don't think you're suppose to be able to fit a legitimate 20w CREE led bulb in there.

I'd say go ahead and say you should put your OEM bulbs back in and see if they work fine.... It honestly sounds like faulty LED bulbs more than anything.

Sorry, I was ninja'd, so there'll have to be a secondary post.

He means the 194 bulb (mini bulb upper corner of the DRL/highbeam lense).

Not the 9005 bulb itself.

I got my CREE DRL lights from vleds.com had the flickering issue as well but it was perfect because during the day the brightness was fairly low with the relay harness it pushes out a full 12v and stays bright non stop. If there was a way to stop the flickering I'd do it but I may remove my relays and stick to the flickering because my DRLs are too bright..

Whoops, my apologies buddy! I was reading "I tried searching the forums here but only seen flickering problems on the smaller 194 bulbs... I just installed last night L.E.D. bulbs in my DRL."

But somehow it came in my mind like, "I tried searching the forums here but NEVER seen flickering problems on the smaller 194 bulbs... I just installed last night L.E.D. bulbs in my DRL."

So I assumed otherwise. That's why I said I don't think CREE LEDs fit in the 194 bulb section LOL!

But yes, the harness is needed as you're running on 6v instead.

I wouldn't recommend people run with the lights flickering though.

As far as the "decoder" I'm not sure if that will work.... I mean, you do NOT want these capacitors to pop on you, it's a VERY scary noise, and potentially dangerous.

You want the RELAY harness....

I've created a DIY on how to install the harness here: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/gs-...-hi-beams.html

GL!

EDIT: Here is a link to A RELAY you could purchase, there's many kits out there, so you can shop around if you'd like.... once again I don't recommend you use the cancel/decoders, as all it is, is a capacitor that won't hold the proper 12v line that you require.
