will they change the oil while completing the recall?

Just got mine back this morning. It also had other things done. They didn't refuel it, which surprised me. However, I filled it on the way home, and after nine miles the display read 33 mpg. No complaints here!

2008 GS350, 50K miles.

Just got mine back. Took one day. I got an ES350 loaner and a full tank of gas.

Besides the well laid out interior of the ES, I was really disappointed, and was really glad to have my car back. I was hoping to get a new GS as a loaner, but it didn't happen.

I really cant notice any difference after the recall.

I've experienced a definite drop in MPG since the recall service. I've gone from a rock steady 18.2-18.6 to two tankfulls after the recall that averaged 16.2 and 16.6. No other changes would account for the drop ... same route, driving conditions, everything.

maybe a battery disconnect for the ecu to relearn your driving might help improve on the mpg?

Don't think that would change MPG, but I got a new battery the day I picked my car up from recall, so ecu would have been reset anyways.

Got my car back today from Fremont Lexus. They gave me a 2013 Lexus Is 250 as a loner. After performing the recall I did noticed the noise complaint Ive been telling them is gone. The noise only happened at idle in reverse or drive. MPG stayed the same at 26 mostly at highway. Mileage at 81k

Is this recall strictly for GS350's or all GS's?

Question

Would like to know if there has been a problem since the recall on 2007 LS460 with the fuel line because of ethanol used in the supreme gas. Does this cause corrosion?

got mine done and got it back with a full tank of gas too along with a complimentary car wash. the loaner car they gave me was the 2013 gs350.

I have to say the transmission has a big improvement at a complete stop in manual mode it knows when to shift back into 1st gear automatically. the cockpit is quite nice and comfortable. fun car to drive.

What I did notice between the loaner car and my 08 gs350 was:
-Windows don't all roll down automatically by holding the unlock button or by turning the key in the driver side door.
-Trunk does not have that easy auto trunk closer, so I had to push the trunk down hard to close it.
-The traction control doesn't interfere too much when taking swift turns. On my car traction control wants to engage when im near the exit of my turn...
-The black squares we touch to lock the car has been eliminated from the door handle. There in an indent on the door handle where you can touch to lock the door.

My '08 GS350 is being serviced for this recall as we speak, I'm supposed to have it back tomorrow. I decided to replace the spark plugs for $180 (parts only)...awesome deal since it's usually $500 with labor. I also inquired about the water pump and drive belt replacement but was told those do not fall in the realm of the recall work and they can't be replaced for the parts-only price. Oh and the rep did mention that the gas tank will be topped off (won't do me much good since I had like 3/4 in there). For some reason I came to the conclusion that the chance of the grinding sound was minimized when the tank was somewhere between 3/4 and full. It would occur regularly on cold start-ups with the tank below 1/2. That sound was horrible and really embarrassing...I mean it would turn heads so I'll be glad if I never hear it again!!

I was also due for an oil change so that's on the list as well, they use synthetic oil 5W-20 for $90 which I usually change every 5K-6K (topping it off with Mobil 1 synthetic as required). I think I read somewhere that we should change the oil after driving 1,000 miles post recall. Is this recommended? Even for synthetic?

Maybe I am the first one to report an issue with recall work. Picked up my GS and not quite 5 miles on the highway, my low oil light comes on....I pull off to the side to my engine smelling like burning oil and tons of smoke.

I returned to the dealership asap....pulled into the garage with oil dripping from the engine and smoke filling their garage.

I was told the gasket got nicked somehow upon install. Engine seems solid upon return. Had a few drips in my garage hope this was just residue from the mishap. Seem to have dropped in MPG a bit but it is colder.

Within 1,000 miles since the mishap, I had the oil changed as a preventative measure.

Got a 2013 GS as a loaner on the return visit. This car will stay off any future consideration list. I like how the Gen 3 GS cabin wraps around you. Gen 4 is very German as the dash travels rigidly across. Big screen is uninteresting to look at. I stare at a PC all day why do I want to do this in my car?

For some reason the car seemed more cavernous inside, less intimate, less plush. Oh well, this post was about my experience w the recall the a Gen4 review.

Not sure how to react on that yet.... but...reading this post I got an impression that the job takes about 6-8 hours. I have a dvr in my car for a long time now... After 2 weeks after this repair was done I reviewed the recordings for another reasons... and found out that repair actually took... 53 minutes.... Not sure - did they cut some corners or technicians are so good to finish the job 6-8 times faster.....or?.... Any opinions?
