Default Parking Sensor Missing?

I own an '06 GS300 RWD and believed I had the parking distance indicators on my car, but when I press the parking sensor button on the side panel, it does not work. I looked on the navi pages for any help, but failed to find anything.

Please let me know if I'm overlooking something or there are some GS models out there without the parking sensors.

welcome to clublexus

look at your front and rear bumper, do you see round circle tabs on them? those are parking sensors

if you press the P on the side panel by the steering wheel, it should turn on / off the parking sensors. if they are on, you should see a green "P" on the dash, i think it's inside the left "gauge" (out of the 3).

Thanks for the welcoming and quick response romini!

I looked and there are two square holes, which are probably for the tow hooks or something of that nature. I pressed the P button, but nothing happens. So... maybe I don't have them?

I dont think you have the parking assist options. The two square holes are just there with the GS. Parking sensors are including 4 circle tabs on the bumper and the P button is actually worked.

You would have an acutal park assist button even if you do not have the sensors? Why would they just leave it blank like the other button on the far too right.

I dont understand why, but it seems to be true. That option box is standard giving you option buttons that are not installed. Odd?

too bad the sensors are so expense otherwise might be easy to retrofit.

Two things may have happened to your car in the past:

1) The bumpers were replaced, though it's odd that both front and rears would be replaced it was perhaps at some point caught in an accident where it hit somebody from behind and then someone behind them hit them. At that time, they went the cheap no-insurance route of replacing bumpers but skipping the expensive sensors.

2) For some reason somebody replaced the instrument panel with that button with a used part that has the button but the car never came with the sensors.

Either way it looks like something fishy in the car's history.

Those knockouts are on every car. Take the cover off and look inside, they're covers for tow hooks for when you drive your car into a ditch and it needs to get winched out.

Default Thank you Jesus/God/Allah/Buddah for this forum

without this forum dealerships would be making more money than they are for simple things such as this. since I've been a member here my GS300 hasn't been anywhere near a Lexus dealership
