Trunk Wont Open Electronically, $1500 fix?!?
Long time reader, first time poster...
So recently my trunk stopped opening electronically. I can manually open it with the key, and the button in the glove compartment is engaged. Took it to the dealer to get checked out (among other things) and they claimed it's a known issue under LSB-0123-08. An entire junction box needs to be replaced along with a wiring harness. Total cost for the repair around $1500.
I have been unable to find this Service Bulletin, and am shocked by repair cost. My trunk will remain broken for the foreseeable future, anyone have further info or similar issues?
Thanks.

before you pay $1500 to replace something, try unplugging your battery and leaving it out for about 10 minutes to reset the electronics. the same thing happened to me when my alarm installer was checking wires with his powerplay tool. when you push the trunk button, do you hear a relay from within the vehicle? for me, i heard the relay in the vehicle, but the trunk did not release/open. good luck!
This is the problem with this soft-close stuff. It helps Lexus sell new cars, but once the car is out of warranty, the repair costs are going to be astronomical.
You either have to put up with stuff like this, or buy a newer car. It's too expensive to own out of warranty imo. The side mirrors are also expensive out of warranty replacements.

Wow...$1500 is steep! Attached is the TSB for this. The part number is 82730-30273. Quick Google search shows about $571 for the part. The TSB shows 1.2 hours as the flat rate given to the tech to repace it. $921 for an hours worth of labor.
Try to acquire one used and replace it yourself. Step by step instructions attached.
