Default Vaistech ML Plus

Hi,

Has anyone installed the Vaistech ML Plus in their GS350 with navigation? I recently purchased this and have it hooked up but (love it works great and I can watch videos as I drive.. yeah!!!!!! ). The only issue I'm having is I'm not sure where I can mount this... tried behind the radio and its too big. tried under passenger side seat and not enough room... Anyone out there that has this installed please let me know where and how you got this installed.

the gs is a very tough one. i got perfect spot for it on both the 2is and 4ls, but on the 3gs i have yet to find a really good place to completely hide it. behind the radio is hopeless. the gap between radio and nav, not enough. above glove box, no space. below glove box, no space. behind glove box / around, don't recall enough space. no space behind passenger side carpet underneath glove box. on the installs i have done so far, it's on the side of the center console behind carpet, but it creates quite a bulge. customers think it's ok, though i think it's a bit obvious. i am still hunting for the right spot

have you guys thought about extending wires long enough to get it into the trunk? You can run wires back and forth to and from the trunk, it will make a much cleaner install.

Mine was installed there as well. Side wall of the passenger side footwell, but removed the foam & cut the plastic wall back there to create a pocket for the unit. Fits perfectly, & no bulge at all. USB is tucked up under the leather console trim for easy access.

how do you run wires back to the trunk???

I was just asking rominl this same question yesterday. I'm considering having the dealer install it just so I can see where they mount the unit. I know if I did it myself, I'd follow rominl's suggestion of placing it behind the carpet.

Mine is behind the nav/head unit without a problem. It is a little tight, but I tucked it into the corner towards the drivers side. I added Velcro to keep it from moving and even zip tied it. I had to make sure the wires were nice and tidy, but it fits and the whole nav unit fit back in perfectly.

I then ran the iPod plug and USB port into the glove box. There is a nice little door on the left side that opens up. I cut a small notch into that so it would shut.

probably a little tough. there is the digital video cable and i don't think that's something you can just extend like other wires

interesting, i will definitely need to take a look again next time i install. i think in that location just need to be very careful to avoid rattling with any other parts

I was definitely worried about rattling, so I used the Velcro as padding and holding it in place. I have it standing on end, meaning it is taller instead of wider. That helped it fit.

I have had 0 issues. I originally had tried your idea of under the carpet but took it out to try behind the unit again. Very glad I did.

If I ever take out my head unit again (don't plan to), I will take pictures of how I have it in there.

Sorry about that, I wasn't thinking about how much wire would be involved to drag from behind the unit to the rear of the trunk, and on top of that how much wire it will take to drag from the back of the trunk back up front for video feed x.x

I guess someone solved that problem by getting it to fit behind the nav unit

How the heck did you manage to put it behind the radio?????? I tried to do the same and no luck... I huffed and I puffed trying to push the navi back in but ended up giving up since I did not want to brake it... The wires are too long and take up too much space... any tips you can provide would be awesome.
