Hello,
We just purchased a 2007 GS350 AWD. It has navigation and CD with 6 CD changer. It does NOT have the ML package or satellite radio.
There is a cable for iPod input. The dealer said the previous owner had the iPod cable installed at the dealership. I am ***uming that makes it a Lexus factory iPod installation.
I must be getting dumber with age, but I can not find a manual for this cable.
After doing multiple searches here I do not seem to find much useable info on this setup. The Lexus site also seems pretty much useless. I contacted the dealer to find out what they installed....He is going to get back to me. I am not holding out much hope although I must say they gave us an excellent experience so far.
If anyone can throw this dog a bone on finding a manual, FAQ or something
on using this cable I would be be most grateful.
I hope this helps... There are a number of other companies that make iPod integration kits for Lexus as well, and some dealerships will install them, so there is a chance that it could be an aftermarket part.
Hi,
Thanks for the replies folks!
I did just plug it in.....but it locks up.
My searches have turned up info on problems because my ipod is not
setup right. I am creating playlist now with less then 99 songs just to make sure.
I would like to leave the ipod in the car in the glovebox. I do know that this cable will NOT recharge the ipod if that is any help.
I am such a virgin to this that I did not know you have to hit the CD button!!!
Heck maybe I will just get a VAIs SL2VI and be done with it :-)
It sure looks easy enough to install.
Thanks again....I really do appreciate everyone taking the time to respond.
Tom
it doesn't charge the ipod? either that's a very old vaisech unit or it's some other brand. actually i believe i have seen a few other brands of ipod kit for the car. really tough to guess unless taking things apart
For under $10 at Walmart, I bought an adapter that looks like, and fits into the cassette slot. It connects to my ipod and works just fine. The drawback is it doesn't recharge - which is not a problem for me because our other cars have ipod capability and the thing gets recharged in them.

A problem I found when I used to have a tape adapter is the quality was subpar. You would have to put your iPod at the perfect volume(usually 3/4) any higher and it sounds like garbage. But it is the cheapest alternative to play your iPod in your car.
