How many miles would you get for the Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 245/40/18 under normal driving and rotate every 5K miles?
I drove about 8000 miles on my last set and sold them with 7/32 left. So by that measure, you would probably get around 20,000 miles until you were down to 2-3/32.
I drive aggressively, but I rotate on schedule and align my car twice a year.
On my BMW I used to get about 12,000 miles, but that car was a manual and staggered setup so no rotation. The Lexus seems easier on tires.
Also the Michelin PSS which is coming out is supposed to have a longer lifespan.

I was averaging around 10k on my M3 with the PS2. Best street summer tires money can buy. However, you can find more practical tires for GS than PS2 if you aren't driving on the limit often. If money is an issue you probably should find a better suited tires for your driving style than PS2 that lasts longer and will give you an acceptable performance for "grandpa" driving.
i don't know what your definition of normal driving is, but the ps2 on my m3, i am lucky to get 10-12k miles
Yes 10-12k - that's what I got on my 330Ci Cabrio. I'm telling you they last a lot longer on the GS.
GS is far less prone to wheelspin on acceleration from standstill, tire rotation helps lengthen tire lifespan, and the automatic reduces your tendency to powerslide in corners.
But the GS numbers are genuine aggressive driving. On most trips I get from A to B faster with the GS460 than with the 330Cic. I can't say more for legal reasons. Remember I bothered to shell out $3700 on radar/laser equipment so I'm not driving like a boy scout, and I went through my first set of pads in 11k miles.
Just put Toyo Proxes T1Rs on my GS and I love them. Less expensive than PS2s.
i have t1r on my gs350. i think they are very good for the price, but if traction and performance are what you look for, the t1r is no match to the ps2
I have about 26,000 miles on my set with about half the tread left. I would hope to see close to 45k on these. note: these tires are not used from December to March.
PS2's are overkill for a GS and would probably only get at most 25k miles if you are not running a staggard setup. You would be better off with a Pilot Sport AS+ and get close to double the mileage as a PS2 with similiar compounds.
Actually the New Michelin PSS (which supersedes the PS2) has longer treadlife. That is definitely the way to go if you are prepared to spend PS2 money.
