Did you by chance disconnect the negative battery terminal before removing the rear view mirror? (and re-connect while waiting for the repair)?

 

I didn't disconnect the battery at all,
but I did leave the car in the garage while send out for the repair.....
No warning or check lights on when put it back!

 

Love these forums! Picked up my GS 430 after a week at the body shop and had the same mirror issue. Thought the body shop swapped my mirror lol guess ill contact the suggested vendor. We should all file a complaint with lexus as this seems to be a common problem and a safety issue.

 

Just had this same issue with my rearview mirror a few weeks ago. Took it to lexus and they replaced it stating its a known problem and lexus had fixed the problem . $1300

 

You had to pay the $1300? Is your car under warranty?

 

Thanks Ashley! Torx20 screwdriver just arrived today. Gonna give this a shot this weekend. Any other tips? Subscribed to TIS for two days to download the official instructions on how to remove the mirror.. Did you remove the screw before taking off the cover?

 

Just got my mirror back today, but there's no compass. It doesn't bother me because I live on an island, other than that mirror looks just like new

If you guys really need it, make sure to call radar-mirror to make the order and to make sure your mirror comes back with a compass.

 

Car was under CPO warranty so $0. Saw what mirror cost from work order.

 

Do you have nav? I thought Nav equipped cars' mirrors don't have a compass. Only non-nav cars get the compass......

 

No Nav only ML, after radar mirror fix now no compass

 

My Nav car has the compass...

 

You might want to check the manual, my car has NAV and a compass, I can also turn the compass on and off, are you sure it's not just a matter of turning it on??

 

@Dirteeboy - Are you sure you just didn't turn it on? See below from the repair manual:

1. COMPASS DISPLAY MODE SELECTION
(a) Turn the compass display ON and OFF by pressing and holding the AUTO switch for 3 seconds. (b) Procedures for selecting compass mode.
(1) Turn the engine switch on (IG).
(2) Check that the inner mirror's LED illuminates green.
(3) Check that one of the following directions is displayed: N, NE, E, SE, S, SW, W, NW.
(4) Press and hold the inner mirror's AUTO switch for 3 seconds, and check that the direction display turns off.

HINT:
Immediately after the AUTO switch is pressed, check that the LED turns off and the inner mirror anti* glare mode turns off. Then, after the AUTO switch is pressed and held for 3 seconds, check that the LED illuminates and the inner mirror anti*glare mode turns on.

I just removed mine today and will be sending it out to Scott first thing in the morning. Anyone from CA care to share the time it took from the day they shipped it till the day they received it back?

Got my mirror back on the 4th day,
so consider 3 days was not that bad
