Default Headlight Issues - HELP

2006 GS300 - While in "auto" or "on", my driver side headlight randonly turns off and the daytime running light for that side comes on. If I take the switch back to off, and then to "auto" or "on", the correct light comes back on. I have read about concerns with ballasts and other things. Does anyone have any concrete advice about this, it seems to be a fairly common problem.

welcome to clublexus

yes it's a pretty common problem especially on older vehicles. try to swap the bulbs left and right and determine if it's bulbs or ballasts. more than likely it's the bulbs that need replacement. can definitely do a search and a lot of discussions on this

I've read both threads (long) and people are quick to point people to these two threads, I've yet to see where there is a definitive answer to the problem... is it ballast or bulbs or just a mystery?

if you read several post on this its pretty easy to figure out.

swap the bulbs to the opposite side, if the problem flips sides then its the bulb. if the problem still stays with the one light, its probably the ballast.

I was having the same problem, Just replace both bulbs to 6k and be done with it.

Here's the ones I bought... only $40 shipped and the light output is way nicer then the stock yellowish-white, the 6ks give off a much cleaner white-blueish light output.
