Maybe you guys out there can help me out. My 2000 GS4's headlight switch (which I believe is the same as the current GS3 & GS4) has 4 positions--off, parking light, main headlight (manual) and auto. If I switch to "auto", the headlight will only come on when the sensor determines it is "dark" enough however in the hazy mornings we have around here, the headlight will never come on with the "auto" setting unless I switch to "manual" on. Is there someway I can set the "auto" so the headlight will come on regardless of light condition outside so it stays on ALL the time until I shut the engine off?
My wife's ES has such a "auto" feature that the headlight stays on all the time and it automatically shuts off when she shuts off the engine. It is really handy and I find it ironic that the much more expensive GS doesn't have this feature.
your headlight will turn off, 30 sec after you lock the door, asumming you have not program it to do other wise. Why don't you wait to see if the light will turn off or not, if not, your local dealer can program it for you. (does not matter the light switch position, Manual or Auto)

I would recommend looking at this, the C-BEST settings. Click here for the settings I had my 98 GS4 and my current 01 GS430 set so the lights stay on when I start the engine and go off when I shut the engine off and open the driver's door. I just leave the switch on for the lights and never have to touch it. If this is the setting you want it's on the C-BEST setting and the dealer will have to do it for you. Make sure they don't charge you, it's free. Good luck.
One other thing you may want to do is to adjust the headlight sensitivity setting, which you'll see is in the C-BEST settings. That way your lights will come on when it's lighter out and you won't have to manually turn the lights on.

Yeah, if you leave the headlamp switch in the manual on mode, they'll stay on all the time, turn off 30 seconds after the doors are locked (if the doors are all closed, just like the auto setting) or you can turn them off by double clicking the lock button on the remote.
If you want the lights to switch on when its less dark or you don't want there to be a 30 second delay in them switching off after you've turned the car off, the dealer can change these through the CBEST program.
