Hey guys, I am currently in the search for a 3GS and I was wondering when the new 2012 GS will be released. Will this be considered the next generation and will it drop the current 3GS prices dramatically. I kinda need one very soon but can hold out for several months if I can save several thousand dollars.

My understanding is that there will be a 2012 GS which will be the current body style released around September and that the 2012 models will have a production run of only 6 months or so until it will be replaced by the 2013 GS which will be all new.
At least that's what my dealer says. Who knows the truth!
If you need a car now, I would suggest the BMW 5 series or the Jag XF.
Sorry I didn't clarify, I am looking for a used 3GS and was wondering if current used prices will drop significantly within several months.
I have been looking at the 5 series for quite some time now but it seems for the same price you get more features in the GS. I personally like the power shades, ventilated seats, and touchscreen navigation.
I am not too fond of the iDrive and I am not too familiar with the Jaguar.
Yah everytime I compare Lexus vehicles to BMW/Mercedes, it always seems like the lexus is the better deal but damn do I love Mercedes. If I had the money, a C63 AMG is what I'd be rolling around in.
To answer the Now or Later question.. it's always better to wait on a used car anyway. As they get old and/or more mileage, the price will continue to drop, plus you can save more. Personally, I'm going to try and hold out until this summer and just buy one in cash. I've always had car payments since I was 16 but with my final couple years of school coming up I'd like to rid myself of a car payment so I can work less, study more, and have little or no debt once I'm out. But anyway... kind of getting off track. lol.
well most things you want in life are always cheaper and better if you wait. it is an evaluation of how much you want it at what price. if you find a good deal, anytime is a good time.

Prices will drop, but the degree will depend on the model year. If you are buying an older GS difference won't be as much. If its a 2010 used model, expect a big hit.
If its true the new gen 4 style is not until 2013 then I would not expect a price decline out side of the norm. If you need one soon I would just spend that time researching your area for the car that grabs you and at a good price.
I just bought my 07 GS350 AWD NAV non/ML in october with 24k miles for $31k. I feel like I got a fair deal especially considering my car literally has not one scratch, ding, scuff, knick, blemish anywhere (on the body or interior), rims have some bubbling near the inner side of the spokes though. She even almost smells newish inside. I know people can do much better at private sale or auction if you know the right people but buying CPO from the dealer gives me a certain peace of mind.
I'm willing to bet that if you could hold out until the new style hits the streets you could gain a significant savings on a 2009/10 at that time but sounds like your need is a little more urgent. I feel like if the new model were to be out now my car may have been $3-5K less but who knows really.
