Is it possible HID fogs are causing my electrical issues?
I have been having issues with rapid battery discharging despite having replaced the battery twice in the last 6 weeks.
The most recent incident was striking:
1) I pulled car out of parking space to apply leather conditioner to the right side seats. Took at max 10 minutes. I didn't check if the auto headlights had stayed since I had passenger side doors open for this effort. If the headlights were on, then fogs would be too since fogs are default set to on.
2) Got back in drivers seat to put car back in space before doing the left side seats.
3) Car wouldn't start. Not even attempt to start. Just remain silent. Red security light was on, everything else off. Not even the interior lights would light up.
4) Call AAA who are able to start the car with an extra battery pack.
5) After driving around a bit, I park the car. Lock it. As I walk away I wait for the lights to time out. When the headlights switch off, the HID fog lights flicker at a strobe like frequency and then turn off.
What is the likely failure here?

yup, i was thinking exactly that. disconnect the fogs completely at the ballast location and see if that makes any difference. if it still happens, disconnect the related harness to battery and other location.
My fogs are using the factory on-off harness. Not using a separate harness. So I can't do this without completely disconnecting the fogs.
just unplug them at the harness and tape the OEM plugs. Even if your tapped into your OEM wires direct. Most of these kits have you run a relay to the batter but your fog switch still works.
then just disconnect the harness from the ballast and see what happens. you can't disconnect the bulb and leave the ballast connected coz' that will fry the ballast, so disconnect the ballast
