Default Windshield wipers - won't go all the way down

This is on a 2006 GS3. i don't know if this is how it's always been, but after i picked up the car from service at the lex dealer yesterday i especially noticed that the windshield wipers don't go all the way down when they are off or at the "bottom" of the wipe motion. especially the one on the passenger side - when the wipers are idle it's sitting maybe 3" above its base if you understand what i am trying to say.

is this normal? or is it just now i am noticing this. it's not really in the way to impede my vision but i just find it odd.

the guy forgot to pull it back down. this position is called "snow position".. U can pull it down on the passenger side.

check your owner manual if u want to make sure.

Probably was just trying to do you a favor since it's almost that season where you'll want to be able to lift them from the windshield to keep ice clear.

Something happened to me after having the car at a car wash. I just pulled over and pushed the right one down and it just clicked into place. I dont know wether that was the right way to do it but it worked and all is well. It kind of tripped out when I saw it as well

To ensure that they are indeed in the snow position, and that the wiper is not broken or malfunctioning, try (VERY VERY GENTLY! YOU CAN DAMAGE YOUR PAINT!!!) lifting the wiper off the windshield, kind of like you are going to change out your wiper blades. If you can lift them without them touching or being blocked by your hood, they are indeed in the snow position.

To put them down, push either one of them down until it sets into place. To put them up (for washing your windshield, changing wiper blades) reverse the procedure (pull either one up until they set into place). Some force is required but not TOO much force. It is important to watch the video to push or pull them up at the correct places and don't do it by pushing or pulling on the blades or frame itself.

This is the very first thing people should know about these cars. I can imagine a lot of people accidentally damage the paint at the edge of their hood trying to lift the wipers off the windshield during a car wash.....

I thought mine looked kinda weird sitting so high. Just popped them down and now it looks normal from behind the wheel. I don't think Im'ma need them in the snow position anytime soon here in SoCal. : )

Can someone please post a link to the video for resetting this "snow position" for the wiper blades. Just came from the car wash and they are in "snow position" but I don't want to screw them up by doing it wrong. Thanks CL forum for this thread!!!

its super straight forward dude. Just gently push them towards the engine and you should hear/feel a click. I usually push mines from the drivers side wiper and press on the middle part of it.

Just grab it a few inches from the base and pull down or up along the windshield! It won't break! Dont worry
