Although that's kinda interesting, the value of this seems pretty limited. May help with blind spot? I'm sure all value disappears when you run into someone in front because you were looking at the camera lol.
Plus he's watching old Mr. Bean eps on the DVD player...I question his taste of TV too
With an aftermarket camera you can run the power from the taillight that is powered on in the "Auto" position during the day (on the RX-350 at least) instead of the backup lights. Maybe(?) a mechanic could do the same with the OEM unit.
Glancing at the monitor shouldn't be anymore distracting than glancing at the mirrors. I'm installing a unit from Rearview Safety this way.
Now if you're gonna play a movie on the thing I would leave the car in Park!
It's the brand. This is the one I'm getting. I can't post the link but you can make a link from this: rearviewsafety.com/products/wireless-systems/wireless-backup-camera-system-model-rvs-091406.html
Mainly for backing up safely but also for parking and another way to check lanes behind us.
Didn't have the factory one. You're probably right about the lane straight back but I think I'll see some info about the lanes to either side that may not be available from the mirrors. We'll see - I never used one before. Anyway as I said the main reason to get it is for backing up. Backup cameras will be required on all vehicles soon.
why does it sounds like the reason why he did this video is because his car is messed up and he is trying to figure out whats going on? i dont think this is normal to be able to put it in reverse while moving forward.
Most modern cars will just cause the transmission to ignore the request for reverse eventhough the selector is in reverse. Keeps you from causing a $8,000 mistake...lol
