I was looking at option list on a 2010 GS450h and noticed it said $400 for run-flat tires with a spare. What is the nature of the spare? Is it full size or mini?
Seems redundant to have run-flats and a spare. Not a bad ideathough, just unusual. I thought maybe there was no room for a spare of any type because of the space taken up by the battery pack.

mini most likely. Not sure why they do that. mine has run flats + spare.

it's donut spare for sure. full size spare does not fit in the 3gs trunk area at all.

and if you have spare, that means your 450h doesn't have apsss. the battery does not take up spare area, it takes up space at the back of the trunk. but the apsss is what takes up the spare tire area, if equipped

I think its pretty much standard for all cars to come equipped with a spare. I believe the run flat tires are more of an upgrade (possibly standard for all Lexus). Not all drivers are going to replace their tires with run flats because of costs or upgraded wheels.

actually i think quite some cars with runflats don't have spare. sc430 has no spare, and i think a while ago some 3gs owners were talking about their cars having runflats and no spare and were asking dealerships to throw in a spare as courtesy

My friend's G8 didn't have a spare, it looked like there was room for a spare but it wouldn't fit anyways

My friend bought run flats for all 4 of his tires on his mini.. he told me it was a waste of money. Run flats are pretty darn expensive for that price you can get around 2 tires (hankook) depending what tires you get

No spare for cars? Really, this is news to me.

I guess if your car is equipped with run flats, you can probably afford new run flat tires when its time to replace. Either that or you are the type that calls roadside service when you have a flat.

the whole idea with runflat is when you get tpms warning, even if tire at 0psi, you can run at 60mph for an hour or so and nothing is going to happen. that sort of take up the idea of having a spare

on the other hand i am not a fan of runflat at all, in fact i never like the idea. harsh ride (noticeable), very expensive, and if you have a puncture, most likely you need new tires, can't repair

I have Dunlap RFT's and hate them. On a 40 profile they run harsher than my 30 profile 255/30 Toyos.

I also don't have a spare...I really need one though as I suffered from a blowout a few weeks ago. Someone had to drive to me one of my OEM wheels.

Has anybody .....
bought a newer GS without the run-flat option and found that a spare of some kind was included? I'm especially interested in the hybrid version of the car.

most gs350 are not on runflat and you get a spare -- a donut spare

on the gs450h, if you have apsss, for sure there is no spare coz' that space is taken for the apsss computer already. i am not sure if gs450h comes with runflat by default, if no runflat, then there should be a spare
