Default Potential Ballast Failure? Already??

my passenger headlight keeps knocking off and on every once in a while..... the passenger side HID would shut off until i flip the switch to the off position and back on. Anyone have any idea if this is the ballast or the bulb? and if it's the ballast, how much? i'm thinking of swapping bulbs with left and right and see how that turns out first, because if it's the bulbs... HELLO GARAX 6000k! =] if it's the ballast.... =[ hello big huge lexus bill

It's not that serious. Wear and tear, simple as that. You already know what needs to be done and if you need a new ballast check eBay or other car part places like the junkyard, etc. No need to hyperventilate over it.

hyperventilating as we speak i'll be testing it out and seeing if it's the bulbs... hopefully it is like rominl says

yeah, i wonder how "complicated" it is to change the ballast i heard some cars come with it built into the headlight!

i can't say how hard it is to change the ballast, but if it's anything like previous lexus, it would be at the bottom of the headlights?

my ballast went out at 40k miles. i replaced it with a aftermarket ballast. i cut and spliced my oem harness and the aftermarket ballast to make it work. Now there is a company that makes a conversion harness that allows you to use a aftermarket ballast with the OEM bulb. The ballast is under the headlight.

I have the same problem Masterchri.
I just replaced both bulbs with philips oem bulbs.
I'm thinking its just the ballast.

And did it fix the problem? I am thinking im gonna try and switch the bulbs around to see if it is a ballast issue or a bulb issue. This bothers me man...

I heard that there might be a TSB lurking around somewhere? or am I just hoping? Looks like this has been an on going issue for alot of people.. but no one really has a hard solution to it.

That has happened to me before, with the xenons.
One on, the other off. Now it doesn`t happen.
Moisture inside the headlight as well., the left one.
Now the left foglight doesn`t turn on.
First the right one had the problem, turns out some wire was loose.
