Default TPMS Code Reading (Need to unmount?)

Does anybody know for sure if I were to take mystery sensors to Toyota for programming if they would need to charge to unmount/remount?

You are paying for their time based on their hourly flat rate charge. They do not work for free!

Obviously, but it might take 2 minutes to hook up and read the numbers. So, that's about 12 dollars a minute or over $700 per hour.

No, dealers have tools that can scan determine the ID's without unmounting the tires. I know this for a fact.

Perfect. There is some misinformation out there about this. You just saved me a few bucks... I will let the sensors be mysterious until winter hits. Thanks.

By the way does anybody know if our trunk will fit four mounted tires? My gut says no, and I don't want to screw up my back seats putting wheels in there.

Then again, my friend says he fit four (albeit a bit smaller 16s) into the trunk of his little Suzuki SX4 but it just doesn't seem like the trunk is deep or wide enough.

No way you can make 4 of them fit, I couldn't get 2 rims\tires to fit the in trunk. Also I was told the same thing about the codes. There's no way to read the TPMS codes without unmounting the tires.

Well, the guy ended up providing me with the tpms ids anyway so I guess I'm covered either way. They are 7 digit alphanumeric codes.

doesnt matter how long something takes. its in their system for a certain amount of time and thats what they charge. example - it may take only 30 mins to change brake pads but they may have it in their system as a 1.5 hour job. 1.5 x shop rate = quote

Hate to say it but that's how they make money. They = Techs. They don't get paid a high hourly rate. They make money by flagging a lot of hours. If they can take only 30 minutes to finish a 1.5 hour job, then that's good for them. They CAN make it take 1.5 hours, ya know?
